What Do You Think of the Fictional Character, Borat Sagdiyev From Kazakhstan?
Do you find him hysterical? I do!!! I can't believe how people take him so seriously! I know he is rude, controversial, even racist (or "racialist," as he might say)—it's pretty clear the satiric attack isn't so much on bigotry, but rather as its origins -- which are rooted in superstitions, traditions, ancestral animosity and beliefs in cultural and gender superiority, all firmly rooted in ignorance. He is another Archie Bunker! Remember him?

Archie Bunker is an interesting choice. I was thinking more of another Andy Kaufman. Like Sasha Baron Cohen (the comedian playing Borat), Andy took his comedy to the people. He would spend great amounts of time setting up a joke, and then let the audience hang themselves with it.
Sasha does the same thing. You are right that most of his bigotry is designed to show the rest of us how stupid bigotry is in the first place. It is designed to illustrate how ridiculous we all are.
Borat is probably the most original character to emerge in comedy in a long time. It is a shame too many people can’t understand the satire.
He is funny! "We support your war of terror."
I cannot wait to see the movie and make benefit Kazakhstan, too.
I agree he can be very funny, but the jokes would be as good if he had created a fictional homeland for Borat. He is out of line and unfair to portray Kazakhs as viciously anti-semitic and misogynistic. If he had real guts he would mock Iran or the Taliban, or another country with a larger diaspora who could create more of a protest about him in the UK and US.
naaa i did`nt like his acting wat so ever:(
Anytime someone can make society take a good look at its true self and get through all of the politically correct BS, it is a good thing.
Painfully funny. You have given a very good assessment of his shtick.
