Is the Footage in Borat Real or Scripted?
I know that the movie is fictional of course, but I've heard that some of the situations are actually real, that what the people say isn't scripted. For example, I heard that at the part where Borat hitches a ride with the university students, those guys were totally drunk and are now sueing Sacha Baron Cohen. Is this true?

As far as I understand it, Sacha Baron Cohen knew what he was going to say, but all of the interviews are real and the other people are not in on it.
About the college students, and I’m not sure about it, Cohen and his crew kind of set up the situation a little by telling the college students to pick him up. The kids were wasted and are unhappy with how they appeared in the film and were (maybe still are) suing him. Don’t take me on my word at that though.
borat the character is scripted but the people and the answers they gave him in the movie were all real..
Most of the people involved in the filming did not know that there were being filmed . However, there are scenes that are scripted, e.g the scene where he went to an antique store and started to ‘accidentally’ knocked down a few antiques .
