Blasts From the 80’s Past
Childhood memories will invoke different things for different people, different toys, TV shows and fashions. Some of these things will be remembered by many. The chances are if you asked half a dozen people what they remember form the 80’s, most will remember the following.
Soda Streams were the kitchen accessory to have in the 80’s. This was one kitchen accessory that defiantly appealed more to the kid than the adult though. If you were the one who’d get stuck with the cleaning up it wasn’t quite so much fun. You’d still be finding bits of sticky syrup for days after you’d put it away. Although the end result never tasted quite as good as the stuff in the shops, the sodastream was always a great way to pass a lazy summer day.
The little blue creatures called Smurfs were one of the most iconic cartoons of the 80’s. They were a happy little community of prominently male creatures. There appearances were pretty similar mostly dressing in white hats and trousers. Their lifestyle was a very simple one and they were happy. In order to keep it interesting the evil wizard Gargaeml would pop up each week to do something evil. The dwarfs from Snow White were very similar to the Smurfs especially when it came to the representation of humanity and emotions. Their idyllic life kept millions of children glued to their televisions throughout the 80’s and they still remain a huge part of pop culture today.
The snap bracket was one of the easiest fashion accessories of the 80’s to forget. These were thin strips of stainless steel or plastic spring bands covered in material. They could be straighten out then hit against a sold object to make them curl up forming a bracelet. Trust children of the 80’s to latch on to such a violent fashion accessory. These colourful bracelets came in a multitude of patterns and were very cheap. The aggressive designed meant they appealed to the boys whilst the pretty design meant they were equally embraced by the girls.
